Chinese Acupuncture
You’ve probably heard of Chinese acupuncture before. Many people consider it a new, alternative treatment but the reality is that it has been around for centuries. There are different forms of acupuncture in Japan, Korea, and other parts of Asia but its roots are in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).
To put it simply, Chinese acupuncture consists of inserting fine needles into certain points of the body in order to promote better physiological functioning. There are many points in the body and they are located in areas known as meridians. These meridians represent different organs of the body.
The basis behind modern and ancient Chinese acupuncture is that we are all made up of a life energy called qi. When this qi becomes imbalanced, it can lead to illness.
People who have too much qi in a certain area need to have it drained while people who have too little qi in a certain area need to have it replenished. Many times qi can stagnate due to a blockage so acupuncture treatment would aim at dissolving that energy blockage.
Why Chinese Acupuncture Works
There is no anatomical or histological basis for the location of meridians so many scientists dismiss Chinese acupuncture and TCM in general as quackery. However, even the most devoted proponent of Western medicine cannot ignore the fact that acupuncture has proven success rates.
It’s not exactly certain how acupuncture works in scientific terms but it’s been suggested that by stimulating acupuncture points, steroids and endorphins are released that promote healing.
For example, when you insert a fine needle into a knee injury, it stimulates the body to produce natural steroids that relieve inflammation and endorphins that aid in pain relief. Endorphins and steroids in the body are far more powerful and potent than prescription drugs.
The balance of yin and yang is also important in TCM and Chinese acupuncture. Yin and yang are opposing forces that could be compared to light and dark, male and female, and black and white. They work in synergy together but when they become imbalanced, disease can develop.
So there you have it. Regardless of whether you believe in traditional Chinese philosophy, you have to believe that Chinese acupuncture works because it is proven to work.
It is a 100% safe, affordable, and effective treatment so why not give it a shot next time you need medical treatment. Its roots are in ancient Chinese medicine but even modern citizens can benefit from its therapeutic effects.
